Tiburon is a beautiful Marin County city with a population of about 9,000 people. One of the most prestigious addresses in the bay area, Tiburon is blessed with natural beauty and a gorgeous location (a hilly peninsula that juts far out into the San Francisco Bay). Tiburon is the Spanish word for “shark”. The Spanish called the Tiburon Peninsula the Punta de Tiburon (Shark Point), as a result of some of the inhabitants of the local waters. Believe it or not, Tiburon used to be a very blue collar railroad and fishing working class town! Ferries carried railroad cars and people and everything else to and from San Francisco.
