Mill Valley is a woodsy Marin County city located in the shadow of Mt. Tamalpais. The population of Mill Valley is about 15,000 people. As with most Marin County cities, the crime rates are low and the school rankings are high, and, as a result, the home prices are high, as well... Indeed, much of San Francisco was rebuilt after the quake using redwood from Mill Valley. Mill Valley is one of the first Marin county cities just over the Golden Gate Bridge, and as such has one of the better commutes to San Francisco of any city in the county. The schools in Mill Valley generally score in the 90th percentile of California public schools. Marin County leads the US in home based businesses.
