The Bayview Heights neighborhood includes Bay View Park, as well as the famous old Candlestick Park, whose name changes every few years or so when naming rights are leased to various corporate sponsors, but which will always be simply old "Candlestick Park" to most San Franciscans. A little San Francisco bay area trivia and history: The Beatles played their last official live concert ever (well, not counting their spontaneous "farewell" free live performance on the rooftop of their Apple Studios building in London, that is!) at old Candlestick Park, on August 29, 1966. Interestingly, they had played their FIRST American concert on their first American tour just two years prior, on August 19, 1964, just down the road, at the Cow Palace in Daly City. (There were also 2 live shows at the Cow Palace in 1965). Just two short years and less than 2 miles apart hardly makes a very Long and Winding Road between those first and last shows after all... The Bayview District, like several of the San Francisco neighborhoods on the eastern side of the city, is undergoing rapid and extensive redevelopment and revitalization, as a wave of new construction and infrastructure improvements is flowing right down Third Street, along the Light Rail line. While one path of development is moving from the Giants baseball park southwards towards old Candlestick Park, there is also plenty of building going on in the Bayview District as well, moving northwards towards the Giants baseball stadium and the SOMA (South of Market) district. When the two paths of redevelopment finally meet up somewhere in the middle, the entire area will be drastically improved and completely transformed. It will take a few years, but the progress has already been rapid and the results are already quite visible. Call it the "last frontier" of San Francisco, if you will, as the eastern districts along the bay certainly represent the largest amount of new construction that San Francisco has seen in decades.
